Passenger flees Cedar Hill police after accidental gunshot during traffic stop

Cedar Hill, TX - Cedar Hill police detained two people and are looking for a third after a traffic stop that ended in accidental gunfire Monday night.

No was was injured and police didn't return fire in the shooting around 11 p.m. at a gas station at the intersection of Belt Line Road and Cannady Drive. 

An officer walking up to the dark-colored Chevrolet Cruze heard a shot, and at the same time, a passenger in the car's backseat fled into a nearby neighborhood, police said.

Police said they don't know where the gunshot came from, but they believe it was unintentional. Helicopters flew over the area, but the passenger who fled hasn't been found.

The driver and a front-seat passenger were taken into custody for questioning.
