"Battle of Beltline"reporting info & materials for DeSoto/Cedar Hill Big Rivalry Coverage - Time Sensitive/One of a kind!

DeSoto, TX - The DeSoto Eagles vs the Cedar Hill Longhorns HS football rivalry is one of the fiercest in the region if not the whole state. Termed “The Battle of Beltline,” Friday night’s game will show how two close knit communities the rest of the year can put all that aside for the duration of one football game and have their teams turn in performances that will become part of their career highlights.

Many NFL greats who started out at DeSoto HS showed previews of their future promise on this field during this game between these two powerhouse rivals.

Sports desks already know that this is a great story, but news desks should know that “The Battle of Beltline” would make a great news and human interest story as well.

On Thursday, October 14th, at 9 AM DeSoto will use our weekly news magazine show, DeSoto: In-Depth, to speak to three guests via Zoom who will provide you with quotes and insider information about the history of this match-up that will enhance any stories that you do on “The Battle of Beltline.”  We’ll have DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor, a DeSoto HS grad who was also the Eagles Mascot “in the day,” Texas State Representative Carl O. Sherman who represents portions of DeSoto and Cedar Hill and who married a Cedar Hill graduate, and Byron “BJ” Hanspard Jr, a standout DeSoto defensive back who now plays cornerback for the Baylor Bears and who is the son of a DeSoto and Texas Tech legend, Byron Hanspard Sr. who also played for the Atlanta Falcons.
