Results of DeSoto PD Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign

DeSoto, TX — As our holiday season comes to a close, our officers worked together December 16, 2022, through January 1, 2023, to take drunk drivers off the roads.

DeSoto Officers working during this time on extra-duty, worked a total of 13 shifts, for 73.5 hours of enforcement. They conducted 145 traffic stops, and issued 64 citations and 106 warnings. 6 drivers were arrested (2 for outstanding warrants and 4 for DWI).

Chief Joseph Costa said of the numbers, “Our DWI Enforcement over the holiday period was successful, as evidenced by our results.” He goes on to further state, “Our officers’ efforts to maintaining traffic safety in our city, added to the region’s overall DWI enforcement, keeping our roads and families safe from impaired drivers.”

Chief Costa expresses his gratitude to TXDOT and NHTSA for allowing the DeSoto Police Department to be a part of a massive national effort in keeping our roads safe, and can’t be prouder of the hard work DeSoto Police Officers do not just during this time, but every time, keeping impaired drivers off our roads.

The DeSoto Police Department, along with TXDOT and NHTSA, want to continue to remind everyone to plan a sober ride home, and that if you drive impaired, you WILL get arrested.
