DeSoto Police News Release/Numbers related to Spring Break traffic enforcement in DeSoto

DeSoto, TX - DeSoto Officers working during this time on extra duty, worked a total of 15 shifts, for 70.75 hours of enforcement. They conducted 191 traffic stops and issued 87 citations and 160 warnings.

4 drivers were arrested (All for narcotics possession and one included a firearm).

Asst. Chief Jesionek stated, “Our officers worked more than 70 hours on the street in support of the State’s STEP initiative during this enforcement period, and through their specific efforts, we were able to make nearly 200 traffic contacts, write more than 80 citations, and make a total of 4 narcotics or weapons-related arrests.” He further stated, “With the assistance of STEP, the Desoto Police Department was able to have additional officers on the street, and as can be seen from the numbers, these officers were able to make an impact for our community.”

The DeSoto Police Department, along with TXDOT and NHTSA, want to continue to remind everyone to plan a sober ride home, and that if you drive impaired, you WILL get arrested.
