DeSoto, TX - I hope and pray you are well and taking all of the precautions — both ordered and recommended — to protect yourself and others during this COVID-19 crisis. We should all be concerned that the number of DeSoto’s positive cases continues to rise.
As of April 23, the total is 83 and 3 deaths. I will continue to call for more testing and contact tracing in order to flatten the curve. I am also urging every citizen, young and old, to join me in doing our part by taking preventive actions to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in DeSoto and beyond our borders.
I am pleased to announce that during our meeting on April 21, the City Council unanimously approved my recommendation to appoint a DeSoto Economic Recovery Advisory Task Force. “The mission of the DeSoto Economic Recovery Advisory Task Force is to encourage coordination among key stakeholders within the City of DeSoto to efficiently and effectively assist in our community’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Advisory Task Force will focus on coordinating resources to assist with the recovery of DeSoto schools, businesses, target populations and medical industry.” I appointed City Manager Brandon Wright to chair this critically important initiative. Brandon will provide frequent updates to keep the city council and the citizens informed about the outcomes facilitated by the Economic Recovery Advisory Task Force.
As a gentle reminder, daily updates on COVID-19, other information and news in the city and resources are posted on the City of DeSoto’s website and other social media platforms.
Please join our citywide effort to demonstrate our sincere thanks to ALL FRONTLINE HEROES by tying a white ribbon around your tree or other fixture in front of your residence. Kudos to Kathy Jones, Community Relations Manager for leading this project.
DeSoto, please stay safe. I remain confident that, with God’s help, we will get through this crisis together. Together we must; together we will! May God bless you, and may God bless the All-America City of DeSoto.
