DESOTO FIRE BATTLES EARLY MORNING FATAL FIRE

DeSoto, TX - DeSoto Fire Rescue was called to the scene of an early morning fire at approximately 4:30 AM Tuesday 100 block of Wildwood Court and found the house completely engulfed in flames.

DeSoto Police were in the area and arrived first on the scene but the intense fire prevented them from entering the structure. Several adults and children made it out of the home safely and informed first responders that there were still two small children, ages 1 and 2, in a second-story bedroom.

Even though the room was fully involved with smoke and flames, firefighters boosted a ladder to the second-story bedroom window and gained entry. They were able to locate and carry the children from the burning structure. The two children were transported to an area hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

The fire was big enough for DeSoto to receive assistance from Cedar Hill Fire Department and DeSoto Fire Rescue would like to thank them and DeSoto Police for their assistance.

The City of DeSoto would like to extend our condolences to the family of the children who perished in this morning’s fire.
