DeSoto, TX - The City of DeSoto continues to mourn the loss of Mayor Curtistene S. McCowan after losing her suddenly to complications related to a lung cancer diagnosis. Despite the community’s shock and heartbreak, the last several days have been filled with family, friends, colleagues, and residents coming together to honor the late Mayor in ways she would have been overjoyed to witness.

DeSoto, TX - Twin sisters from DeSoto High School have been named semifinalists for a scholarship that could provide a fully funded, four-year college experience to both of them. Seniors Jazmine and Jazzie Jackson are eligible to obtain early admission to several of the nation’s top universities and colleges and full four-year funding worth over $200,000, according to a release from the district.
