DeSoto to unveil new fire station and administration building

DeSoto, TX - DeSoto Fire Rescue will hold a ribbon cutting for a new fire station and administration building on Saturday, May 29, the department announced on Facebook.  Construction of the 14,200-square-foot combined facility at 206 S. Parks Drive was approved by voters in a 2014 bond referendum.

DeSoto, TX - A 20-year-old Lancaster resident is dead after a shooting at a balloon release on Sunday, police say.  According to the DeSoto Police Department, the shooting occurred at a ceremony honoring 19-year-old Camran Collier who was fatally shot in the driver's seat of his Honda Accord in the 1100 block of Westlake Drive on April 22.
