DeSoto, TX - During Tuesday Evening’s DeSoto City Council Meeting, Mayor Rachel L. Proctor will honor local hero Corey Borner with an Official Proclamation declaring Tuesday, September 7, 2021, “Corey Borner Day” in the City of DeSoto.

DeSoto, TX - Hundreds of firearms were surrendered to DeSoto police through an initiative the department began in response to increased gun violence. Drivers lined up along Parks Drive on Saturday to voluntarily surrender unwanted firearms in exchange for $100 gift cards.

DeSOTO, Texas - A man is now charged with capital murder in the death of a man who was killed in front of his family. Police in DeSoto say Evan McMaryion shot Randall Thornhill during a carjacking in May.

DeSoto, TX - Mayor Curtistene McCowan has a middle school named after her, and now, Meadow Creek Park in DeSoto has been renamed in her honor. The DeSoto City Council voted unanimously 5-0 Tuesday to rename the park after the late mayor died Oct. 28, 2020 after she was diagnosed with lung cancer several weeks earlier.
