DeSoto, TX - Freezing temperatures during last February’s Winter Storm knocked out water service at the Hickory Manor Senior Apartment Complex, 1626 Old Hickory Trail in DeSoto, for several days and made numerous apartments uninhabitable for an extended period of time.

DeSoto, TX - The Senior Activity Center will open on June 14 with the temporary hours of 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday at 75% capacity. At this time the center will close at 1:00 pm due to compliance with Dallas County’s meal program guidelines.

DESOTO, Texas - A 19-year-old is waiting to be extradited back to DeSoto after police determined he was responsible for a shooting that killed one and injured another while a 5-year-old in their car watched on in horror last week.

DeSoto, TX - A 19-year-old man suspected in a May 15 shooting that killed one man and wounded a woman is in custody in Arizona, DeSoto police say. Randall 'Scott' Thornhill, 34, had been sitting in his car at the gate of a property in the 300 block of South Elerson Drive waiting to drop off his 5-year-old stepson when Thornhill and his 29-year-old passenger Heather French were shot, police said.

DeSoto, TX - DeSoto Fire Rescue will hold a ribbon cutting for a new fire station and administration building on Saturday, May 29, the department announced on Facebook. Construction of the 14,200-square-foot combined facility at 206 S. Parks Drive was approved by voters in a 2014 bond referendum.
