Lancaster, TX - You may have noticed mosquitoes flying around when you've been outside during dusk or dawn. It is important to protect yourself from the West Nile Virus. Health officials urge the public to take protective measures by utilizing the ‘4Ds’ (Drain, Dawn & Dusk, Dress, and Deet) to reduce the risk of West Nile virus (WNV).
The West Nile Virus can cause mild to severe illness. People typically develop symptoms between 3 and 14 days after they are bitten by an infected mosquito. Call your doctor if you think you may have West Nile Virus.
