Threat prompts lockdown at Midlothian High School

Midlothian, TX - There is a heavy police presence at Midlothian High School in Ellis County because of a possible threat.  School officials said they got a tip about the threat around 9:30 a.m. The campus was immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution.

"Out of an abundance of caution the campus is currently on lockdown as the situation is being investigated," Midlothian High School said on Twitter.

The school and police aren't giving any specific details about the threat but assured all students and staff are safe.

"All students and staff remain safe. The MPD and District are following all proactive threat assessment protocols and procedures," Midlothian HS tweeted. "There are many rumors circulating, and through the investigation process, none have been substantiated at this time."

The Grand Prairie Police Department said it is also assisting the Midlothian Police Department in their investigation and going room to room.

State troopers in front of the school have been redirecting traffic away from the area. No one is being allowed in or out of the building while police are investigating.

"Due to lockdown safety procedures, please do not come to the campus at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding," Midlothian HS tweeted.
