A woman rescued by police said that an Ellis County couple shackled her to a bed and forced her to clean their home. Ovilla police say they were contacted Friday about a woman being held against her will.
When they got to the home in the 900 block of Red Oak Creek Road, just south of the Dallas County line, the victim told officers that she had been drugged and kidnapped. She said the residents of the home handcuffed, shackled and chained her to a bed and made her clean the house.
Officers provided medical treatment for the victim, whose name has not been released.
Police arrested two occupants of the home, 48-year-old Charlotte Kelly DeMars and 51-year-old Jean-Claude DeMars, on kidnapping charges. They were being held Monday at the Ellis County jail, with bail set at $150,000 each.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident as a human-trafficking and kidnapping case.
