'Yes, we'll sign for that': Police departments offer to hold holiday packages to curb theft

North Texas - Police departments across North Texas are attempting to curb porch thefts by allowing residents to send their holiday packages to their offices.  "Yes, we'll sign for that."  That's the message from the Wylie Police Department,

which is among several North Texas police departments offering to take in holiday deliveries to curb doorstep thefts.pickup

Wylie, Hutchins and the Glenn Heights police departments have posted messages urging residents to have their packages delivered to their offices, where they'll safely be held out of reach of porch thieves.

Here are the details:

WYLIE POLICE DEPARTMENT:

° Packages can be delivered now through Dec. 23

° Residents can pick up their packages 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

° Packages should be addressed with the resident's name and shipped to Wylie Police Department; 2000 N. Hwy 78; Wylie, TX 75098

° Once order is placed, residents should email Officer Arroyo at advising her of the shipment so police can notify resident upon the arrival of package.

° To pick up packages, residents must provide government issued identification and proof of order/shipment receipt. If package is address to a child, parents must provide proof of guardianship or child identification. No exceptions.

GLENN HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT:

° Packages can be delivered now through Dec. 22

° Residents can pick up their packages from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

° Packages should be addressed to the resident's name and shipped to the Glenn Heights Police Department; 550 E. Bear Creek Rd.; Glenn Heights, TX 75154

° To pick up packages, residents must bring a government-issued identification card and order/shipment proof of receipt. Parents picking up packages addressed to their children must bring proof of guardianship and/or the child’s identification.

HUTCHINS POLICE DEPARTMENT:

° Packages can be delivered now through Dec. 22

° Packages should be addressed to the resident's name and shipped to the Hutchins Police Department; 205 W. Hickman St.; Hutchins, TX 75141

° To pick up packages, residents must bring a government-issued identification and a proof of purchase. There will be no exceptions to this rule. There is no charge for this service, but please limit package weight to 50 pounds.
