Oak Cliff - It was a very close call on an Oak Cliff street where residents say reckless driving is a familiar problem. Witnesses say a speeding driver was clipped from behind on Monday and lost control.
The truck flipped and crashed into a house. Remarkably, there were no major injuries.
No one disputes speed was a factor in the crash. Neighbors say it happens just about every single day. The driver even admitted he was speeding.
Just after 12 p.m., witnesses say three vehicles were speeding and were weaving in and out of traffic going westbound on 12th Street. Just after crossing Oak Cliff Boulevard, one of the vehicles rear-ended a Chevy Silverado truck causing the teenage driver to lose control flip crash into a home.
Art Vera witnessed the truck crash into the house. He says the truck was going nearly 80 miles an hour.
“They tripped that electronic sign at 78 miles an hour right in front of me,” Vera said.
Three people were inside the truck. Only one of them was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
Driver 18-year-old Oscar Gonzalez told FOX 4 he was speeding because he was late for work.
"He rear-ended me from behind and sent me flying over here,” Gonzalez said.
Next door, Javier Marrufo was working in his backyard when the pickup ripped through his fence and crashing upside down into the home next door.
“I'm working here and boom!” Marrufo said. “Me look outside and see the truck next house boom. Maybe me! It's okay. Next house? No Bueno!"
Louis Vella says he was about to take a shower when the truck slammed into his house.
"I heard the bricks when the impact,” he said. “I could hear the bricks falling."
Vella says it's not the first time he's had to deal with reckless driving on his street.
"It's something that has to be dealt with,” he said. “Because one of these days, they're going to kill somebody."
