Red Oak man sentenced to life for continuous sexual abuse of children

Red Oak, TX - Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery announced Friday that Richard Lynn Phillips Jr., 66, of Red Oak, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for continuous sexual abuse of young children, a first-degree felony with a punishment range of 25-99 years, or life, in prison.

Red Oak, TX - A family was displaced after a house fire that occurred Monday morning in Red Oak.  Firefighters responded to a call around 5:45 a.m. on Sycamore Circle.  “The homeowner smelled smoke and heard the smoke detectors go off, so she got her kids out of the house safely,” Fire Chief Ben Blanton said.
