Waxahachie, TX - Having your school close your senior year of high school in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis is definitely disappointing for students and their families. That’s why Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) wanted to find a new way to celebrate the class of 2020.

Waxahachie, TX - In a time of need, members of the Waxahachie ISD family have stepped up to combat the shortage of medical masks. Maria White is a paraprofessional in the life skills classroom at Waxahachie High School and answered the call for masks the week after spring break.

Waxahachie, TX - As of the evening of April 7th, the Ellis County Local Health Authority has confirmed six additional cases of COVID-19 in Ellis County. This increases the countywide total to 44 cases.

School closure extended to May 4

Waxahachie, TX - Waxahachie Independent School District, and all other public schools in Ellis County and the state of Texas, will remain closed until Monday, May 4. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday ordered all public schools closed until then to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, meaning that at-home learning will continue at least until then.

Waxahachie, TX - Waxahachie Mayor David Hill declared a local state of disaster in response to the coronavirus outbreak, Monday. The Disaster Declaration Order, in effect for 30 days, comes even as Emergency Management Coordinator Thomas Griffith told the City Council there were no confirmed cases of the novel virus in Ellis County as of Monday.
